THE milkshake! A smooth velvety taste of cookies and cream, not just any cookie, it’s the Oreo. You can almost taste it, need I say more.
When Shakirah, Nspired’s Diva for food inspiration shared her “Cookies and Cream” Milkshake recipe with me it just had to be shared with all of you. What’s up with my kids in winter, they always crave ice cream and the McDonalds McFlurry is their ice-cream of choice. This recipe is the best alternative. No need to stop at a Drive-Thru anymore.
- 10 Oreo biscuits
- 1 litre softened vanilla ice-cream
- ½ cup milk
Pulse the biscuits in your food processor to form a bread crumb texture. Liquidize the crushed biscuits, softened ice-cream and milk to make a smooth milkshake. (You could just crush the biscuits in a jiffy bag if you want a crunchier texture). Serve with some whipped cream and a drizzle of chocolate sauce in each glass, or serve them in little bottles like these from Mr Price Home. Kids will love it!
Use chocolate flavoured ice-cream instead of vanilla then add a dash of vanilla essence. Yummm chocolaty!
Or for a lemon flavour substitute the Oreos for some Bakers Lemon Cream Biscuits.
Enjoy and let me know whose favourite will it be, yours or the kids?
