When my friend Shaki told me she booked a “Little Miss Perfect” class for my 10 year old daughter Zahrah and her 8 year old daughter Nusaibah…… I don’t know who was more excited, me or my little princess.
Off I sent her with her camera! “Take pictures of everything so that you don’t forget what you learn!”
When I picked her up later that afternoon, I was too inquisitive to just wait in the car. I popped in to see what it was all about……. EXQUISITE! My princess learnt how to be the perfect hostess!
I was so impressed by the attention to detail! Even the notes handed out had little sparkly details. (Luckily I had my camera with me and Zahrah took some of these pictures too).
Fatima is the lovely talented lady who hosts these classes for little girls (girls from the age of 5 can attend) She is based in Johannesburg. She glamorised the event by teaching the girls how to set four gloriously themed tablescapes.
An Alice in Wonderland theme….. for an English Vintage Tea and Candy Buffet.
A Baroque Glam Girls Get together theme …… for a stylish lunch
Family, another word for Love theme …. Maybe for an Eid Dinner
And A Glass Slipper theme…… for a subtle wedding table
The girls were given direction on colour palettes, tablecloths, placemats etc. They were also taught how to make their own napkin rings and centre pieces….. Wow!
Oh wait for this…… Our princesses were taught how to make Mocktails with exotic names like Cherry Sublime, Tropical Beach, Sparkling Mint Dream and Candy Fantasy. You can almost taste the sweetness rolling off the tongue!
The girls even made their own blinged up umbrella stirrers. Again so much beautiful attention to detail! I just LOVE it!
Most impressive too was the list of new vocabulary given to them in their notes…. Words like embellish, opulent, accentuate, ambience, crimson….. They are now talking like little Diva’s! Adorable!
The girls all left with a gift from their masterful hostess Fatima and they also left with lots of girly excitement of achievement and confidence. Thank you Fatima and thank you Shaki for booking the class for our princesses. Fatima can be contacted on (011) 8379090 or her cell 0724210398 or email her at fatimavanker@gmail.com
I can’t wait to book Zahrah for the next round of glamour to make her a “Little Miss Perfect” just a tad bit more. With future classes named “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” and “Cinderella’s Ball” and “Cupcake Couture”…… she can’t wait too!
Definitely to help Mum! I agree sister
Salaam. The materials used, as well as the attention to detail is beautiful. How ever, I feel that little girls aged between 5-10 shouldn’t be setting tables or making mocktails, we have our entire lives to do this. They should instead be playing outside and enjoying their childhood. This would be better suited to teenage girls and grown up ladies. Just my opinion.
Wasalaams Sister. I always wondered at what age do u get little girls involved….. I have realised its really up to the keen interest of your little princesses. Speaking just for my daughter, she gets so excited to help in the kitcen as well as set tables for special occasions. As much as I want her to play outside she prefers the indoors. I rather her choose crafty hobbies than just watching TV or playing Playstation (which she so easily does too. Lol!) Her interest actually peaked when she watched Junior Masterchef, motivation that such young kids can prepare such gourmet meals. Helping mom is also part of a memorable childhood
To anonymous,it surely beats sitting in front of the tv, computer, ipads ,ect..”. Living in johannesburg surely is not always an option to play outside without supervision ,all day.
“Childhood”of today is surely very different to our “childhood”of yesteryear. Mother of 4 mashallah girls,I’d say get them interested in all things “homely” . They love it!
Alhamdullilah… 4 daughters Laila. I am sure you can share a lot of experiences with us. Getting involved in all things homely can never be a waste. Its memories they will learn from and cherish. Glad your girls love it too!
What a cool idea for the little ones! Such inspiration,I will surely get my little one and her friends to try some of the ideas. No more” we so bored” Jazakallah for the inspirational post.
Mariam I can just imagine all the fun when friends get together. Especially little girls! Good Luck and Enjoy!
What a fabulous concept! I am all for little girls playing outside, but this is just an extension of enhancing creativity while exposing them to all kinds of exciting things developing them into well rounded individuals. Also its glamourising domestic work without making it seem like a chore. Even little boys love being in the kitchen with mom! My 8 year old girl will adore this as will my 5 year old boy!
Indeed fabulous Zarina. You have just summed it up so correctly “extension of enhancing creativity” I must agree too that you get much more enthusiasm from them when you make chores fun and glamorous
Slm naseema ! My daughter absolutely loves doing up the table .its so amazing to see just how talented & artistic they can be ! When i showed her these pics she went crazy &asked when can she go ? I think its nice to allow the kids to express themselves & at the same time it gives them lot of confidence ! Who knows hat this can lead too for their future & if nothing comes of it atleast they will be eating in style !” like i always tell her treat yourself because you worth it ” use the nice dishes & cutlery for your tea & ice cream !
Yes dear! Everything in style, even tea and ice cream. lol. Safiyya you better get her booked for the next class! She will love it.
