Raise your hands if you can’t leave home without your lipstick! My hand is way up high.

To get my makeup palette ready for summer I started first with my lipstick shades. Who better to ask than my makeup artist, my namesake Naseema, (I call her Nasu, you will recognise her from many of my posts, she is one of my many talented models). After she does my makeup I have serious Cinderella moments. I am always transformed by her light hand into a beautiful princess.

Nasu is a qualified makeup artist also studying part time towards her Bachelor of Education degree. She gained immense experience working for Inglot makeup studios. Her business is called Blush. Three cool colours! Nasu prefers MAC or Inglot, but says you could use any brand you comfortable with.

Here Nasu shows us how to work that beautiful Coral Shade.

 

A huge trend is the mixing of colours and adding a metallic glow. Here Nasu jazzes up her lips with a funky blue (also an on-trend colour this season)

This is how you can get this look: Use a lip brush to apply colour to your lips. Mix a preferred colour eye shadow (in this case she used blue) to the Inglot Duro Line and apply to your lips. This creates the metallic effect. (I can’t wait to try this with a mix of pink lipstick and a metallic yellow glow)

If you are not that adventurous and want to keep things classic and simple, Nasu suggests a nude.

Use a Nude with a touch of gold to get that summer sun kissed glow!

  • For lasting lip colour, apply a colour to your lips. Separate a 2ply tissue and lightly hold the tissue against the lip, take a powder brush and then dust a loose or pressed powder onto the tissue. The powder helps set the lip colour to last longer.
  • When doing dramatic, heavy eye makeup go nude on the lips.
  • Dark skinned toned ladies should be careful when choosing a nude shade, never go too light, it will make your lips look pale.
  • Bright colours are this season’s fashion must-have! Be on-trend with your makeup as well. Bright colour lips are a definite!
  • Pink shades are an essential. Light pink shades look lovely on fair skin tones and more dark warm pinks for medium to dark skin tones.
  • Red lips always look glamorous, especially when complimented with natural, simple eye makeup.
